Introduction. The quality and safety of medical care are important priorities of government policy, as they affect human capital, the standard of living of the population and economic indicators. Feedback from patients about the quality of medical services is an essential element of risk management and improving the safety of medical activities.
Aim. To analyze the results of a survey of patients in inpatient departments in Tambov using the “Patient Safety Day Questionnaire” to assess the level of patient safety and identify problem areas requiring improvement in the quality of medical care.
Materials and methods. The questionnaire contains 6 sections to evaluate various aspects of the quality and safety of medical care. The survey was conducted among 400 patients in inpatient departments in Tambov in the period from January to May 2023.
Results. Most patients are satisfied with the information about the disease and treatment, although there have been cases of discrepancies in information from different health workers. Half of the respondents had the opportunity to discuss their concerns with the staff. More than half of the patients are not satisfied with the level of involvement in making treatment decisions. Most of the patients were satisfied with the information about medications and recommendations at discharge.
Discussion. The identified problems can be solved through staff communication skills training, the introduction of a patient feedback system and the development of standards of interaction based on the requirements for informed consent.
Conclusion. The analysis of the survey data made it possible to evaluate the effectiveness of the medical staff and identify problematic areas that require further improvement.
